Dr. Katharina Rynkiewich is a dedicated medical anthropologist and Florida Atlantic University faculty member whose research fundamentally reshapes our understanding of antibiotic resistance.

Based at Florida Atlantic University, Dr. Rynkiewich specializes in examining the complex interplay between clinical practices, microscopic life, and the institutional frameworks of modern medicine. Her ethnographic work bridges the gap between the sociocultural dimensions of human behavior and the biological realities of environmental health, providing a holistic perspective on one of the most pressing public health challenges of the 21st century.

Earning her PhD in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2020, her scholarly contributions have been recognized and supported by prestigious institutions including the National Science Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Wenner-Gren Foundation.
